The Splitrock is a dedicated iron ore hauling railroad featuring Alco diesels moving trains through the Birch and Pine forests located north of Lake Superior. Iron ore is graded, switched, and moved from the underground mines to an ore dock for loading onto a Great Lakes freighter. Many prototypical effects are featured with sound and lighting, and many vignettes are to be found by along the route including abandoned narrow gauge logging railroad.
