The Rapid Canyon Line is loosely inspired by a short line that ran from Rapid City, South Dakota through Dark Canyon to Mystic, South Dakota. A mixture of passengers and freight were commonly seen winding through the canyon on what was notoriously coined ‘the crookedest line in the world’. Much of the original right-of-way is now Highway 44 heading west from Rapid City. The line had a very colorful history of fantastic boom years and crushing receiverships until its demise just after World War II.
The Rapid Canyon Line is based upon 24″ hexagon shaped modules that can be arranged in multiple configurations as desired. At roughly 3 square feet, each module packs a lot of detail, even in O scale.
